What’s in YOUR Wellness Soup?

When you are feeling weak, achy, and like you are JUST about to get sick, how do you attempt to revive yourself? Do you turn to soups or other home remedies?

Feeling weak, achy, and cold, Sage’s Tanuja made this soup today to boost her immunity (Qi and Blood), warm her interior, and drain dampness.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cloves of garlic, chopped coursely
  • half an onion, chopped coursely
  • 2 tbs of black mustard seeds
  • pinch of cumin
  • dash of turmeric
  • 1/2 inch of ginger root
  • salt to taste
  • 8 cups of chicken stock
  • 1/4 green cabbage, chopped
  • 4 red potatoes, chopped into 1/4 inch cubes
  • 1 large stalk of broccoli, chopped
  • 1/2 cup of lentils
  • 1/2 cup brown rice
  • 1/2 cup mung beans

Directions:

1. Saute the garlic and onions and mustard seeds until the onions are translucent

2. Add the rest of the ingredients with enough additional water to just cover everything.

3. Cover tightly with a lid and let simmer on a low setting for 45-minutes to an hour.

Optional: Tanuja had some astragalus root, or huang qi, so she threw in a handful of that to boost her immunity even more. You can get organic astragalus from Mountain Rose Herbs. It is a safe herb that you can use lavishly in your cooking to boost your Qi, or vital force, and prevent illness.
